Smartseille, the city of the future

Following the " smarcities " celebrated in Marseille at the end of 2015, it's time for action. A sustainable and innovative eco-district is emerging in the northern neighborhoods of Marseille, between the A7 and A55 highways. Welcome to " Smartseille"!

Marseille has been chosen by the government as one of three pilot sites in France to envision the sustainable city of the future. A few weeks ago, Ségolène Royal, the Minister of Ecology and Sustainable Development, visited the site to observe the progress of the work.

The Allar project, named " smartseille ", aims to create the 112th village of Marseille.

In total, it comprises 58,000 m2 of housing, offices and facilities on 2,7 hectares.

Marseille was chosen for this project because it is truly Mediterranean! Until now, experiments in creating cities of the future have tended to be located in northern cities.

An urban experience delivered in 2018

This ecological urban project focuses on self-production with photovoltaic installations and sustainable water management.

A unique new system is being tested: Thalasso-thermie . The idea is to use seawater to heat or cool the neighborhood.

Renowned architects, including Corinne Vezzoni from Marseille , are participating in this project.

Creating an eco-sustainable real estate complex in Marseille does not follow the same principles as in northern cities .

While northern cities seek to take advantage of light , Mediterranean designs follow the opposite principle: building placement in relation to the sun and wind, cross-ventilated housing to promote air circulation, and sunshades.
