Marseille, city of sunshine but not only!

In this month of June 2021 La Vieille Charité - a magnificent multi-cultural site in Marseille - reopened to the public. We are therefore allowed to dream of a weekend during which all desires can be satisfied!

But why just dream about it…?

A detour through Palmyra

One of the spaces of La Vieille Charité is dedicated to the adventurer Michel Eisenlohr who transports us to the sublime Palmyra through his black and white photographs. The sensitivity of his silver eye is a marvelous time machine...

A journey to the ancient city of north-west Syria, the convergence point of brilliant civilizations and the fleeting reign of Queen Zenobia…

“Surrealism in American Art”

…is the other exhibition bringing together no less than 180 works and dozens of artists! We learn the presence of Marseilles in 1940 figures like Max Ernst, Jacqueline Lamba and many others leaving for the United States.

This same exhibition makes us discover the great popularity of Salvador Dali across the Atlantic where he was considered a star

Vieille Charité: for the beauty of the site!

17th century building in pink and white stone whose four wings open onto the peaceful interior square courtyard in the center of which is erected the ovoid Pierre Puget chapel.

There are excellent quality permanent and temporary exhibitions, a bookstore, a bar restaurant, a poetry center and an unusual atmosphere...
