The Frioul archipelago consists of the islands of Ratoneau, Pomègues, If, and Tiboulen. This archipelago is part of the Calanques National Park, established in 2012. Getting there from the Hotel Bellevue couldn't be easier! Simply take the shuttle located right outside your hotel. It runs year-round. The crossing takes about fifteen minutes.
♥ A stop at the Aquacole du Frioul farm on the island of Pomègues
The Frioul fish farm was established in May 1989.
Since 1927, the place was used by the scale merchants of Marseille. They re-soaked their shells there because the site is known for the quality of its water.
This is a cove of more than 2 hectares , located on the public maritime domain. The cove is called Grande Brise.
It is protected by a dike which was built in the 17th century.
This situation is very favorable for the farming of certified organic sea bass and sea bream because the fish benefit from the renewal of the waters and almost no pollution.
♥ Protect the flora of Friuli
The islands have a unique microclimate.
This allows the development of a remarkable flora composed of nearly 300 species, around fifteen of which are protected.
Among the best known are the astragalus or the famous witch's claw.
The Frioul Nouveau Regard association has been working since 1999 to preserve this exceptional natural environment.
Three times a year, an eco-citizen day is held to clean the beaches, hills and coves.
The next meeting is scheduled for September 29, 2018.

♥ Swimming in Frioul: the coves are numerous, charming, discreet, with crystal clear waters. Be careful, take a cap or your best hat because there are no trees… and therefore no shade!
