Budding artists: the Hotel Bellevue is launching a call for projects!

This is a great opportunity for all budding artists to seize. As part of its involvement in serving Marseille's cultural heritage, the Bellevue hotel and the caravelle are challenging you!

The Bellevue hotel and the Caravelle support young artistic creation

The Bellevue Hotel and the Caravelle, located on the Old Port in Marseille , are launching a call for projects for an artistic creation which should be completed during the first half of 2018.

Regular guests know: the entrance to the Bellevue hotel merges with that of the Caravelle bar restaurant.

And it is precisely this common entrance that must be reinvented by an artist whose mission will be to paint a mural.

In fact, the entrance hall wall is the backdrop for the artwork, which will remain visible for a minimum period of three months.

The artist will be paid. His creative material will be supported.

He will also have the opportunity to stay at the Bellevue hotel and eat at the Caravelle during the creation period which is set at a maximum of 7 nights.

A fresco to translate the history of a legendary building

The Bellevue hotel and the caravelle are true symbols of Marseille heritage.

La Caravelle is a former cabaret bar from the 20s.

The Bellevue hotel has a wrought iron staircase which is part of Marseille's historical heritage.

Indeed, the latter survived the bombing of the Second World War during which part of the Old Port was destroyed.

A work linked to the history and decorative bias of the place

The artist, who will therefore have been selected by the jury, must have the ability to propose an artistic project that takes into account the history of the place.

It is also desired in the selection criteria that he/she be able to master a palette of primary and complementary colours.

The decoration of the Bellevue hotel pays homage to the architect Le Corbusier.

The rooms and floors harmoniously mix red and blue, with pastel shades and woody tones.
