From the founding of Massalia to the opening of MUCEM, This route helps you better understand the metamorphoses of the Fort Saint-Jean site.
Its history is closely linked to that of Marseille and the Mediterranean basin.

A corridor of time to discover the bowels of the fort
Ancient site chosen by the Phocaean navigators, over the centuries it became a sort of architectural mille-feuille.
Films, models and interactive devices go back in time and show you the remains of a church, the rise for the cannons, the vaulted passages, and the barracks buildings of the Foreign Legion that Fort Saint-Jean hosted.
The route is chronological.
It is composed of 5 steps at the end of which you receive historical significance that this listed monument has always had in Marseille.

2 options are available to you:
- Walk along it Fort Saint Jean by promenade by the sea and watch the boats enter the Marseille harbor.
- Exceed it Garden of Migrations and take the metal footbridge. Contemplate the breathtaking view of the Old Port. You arrive on the roof of the MUCEM.
