The Marseille marathon: surpass yourself!

With Marseille officially designated European Capital of Sport in 2017, the Phocaean city is preparing to host the 7th edition of its marathon . And make no mistake, this is a marathon: 42 kilometers, with the dreaded 30-kilometer mark to overcome. In short, it's a far cry from the friendly, if somewhat leisurely, Color Run!

Arrival in front of the windows of the Belle Vue hotel

First things first, the Old Port of Marseille is the finish line for the race. Three distances are offered: 10 kilometers, a half-marathon, and the main event, the marathon. The start – a new feature this year – takes place in the heart of the Calanques National Park , in Les Goudes. To avoid setbacks, withdrawals, or injuries, training is essential. Jogging sessions with professional coaches are scheduled from February 03rd until the start on March 15th, 2015. Don't live in Marseille? The Hotel Belle Vue is delighted to welcome you so you can be right in the heart of the action.

Physical and mental strategy

And yes, you have to keep your head busy for 42 kilometers, or for the fastest, three hours of racing! It is therefore essential, not only to warm up, but to think about what you will occupy your mind with, when you are tired or your legs hurt. When you want to save yourself, slow down the pace and take the time to appreciate the landscape, your breathing, the Frioul islands. Then, when you feel that you are approaching a difficult passage, focus on your posture and on a goal that is important to you. Easy, right?
