The Caravelle bar-restaurant , located on the first floor of the building that also houses the Hotel Belle Vue , was a cabaret for sailors in the 1920s…
Just two more years and we'll be able to celebrate 100 years of reigning over the Old Port of Marseille 🙂

Today, the Old Port is pedestrianized.

Its staircase is a “survivor”
During the Second World War, on May 27, 1944, the Germans bombed the Old Port.
400 buildings are destroyed. The Belle Vue hotel and the Caravelle remain standing. The staircase too!
That is why it is now considered part of Marseille's heritage.
His photogenic qualities are celebrated by Apple in one of its " shot with iPhone " campaigns, and his image is plastered on the facade of the Gare de Lyon in Paris.
Today, the staircase is still here but for reasons of convenience, an elevator must come to assist it :)
