This has escaped no one's attention, the terraces of the Old Port of Marseille are re-opening, like everywhere else, from this month of May... This is the opportunity to discover these famous hiking trails which join the coves, GRs including the horizon is invariably blue…
Get off to a gentle start in the Calanques
To get off to a gentle start, the 5 kilometer loop of Mont Redon, at the entrance to Calanques Natural Park, is to be done as a warm-up after a sedentary period.
If you want to have an eyeful and haven't been playing marmots all winter, go to Callelongue (bus N20) and take the GR which runs along the coast: it's a 1h30 walk on a superb path between sky and sea to reach the cove Marseilleveyre.
For real fitness
A look at the GR map and you will quickly understand! Everyone can find a path within their reach. Thus, the loop passing through Cap Morgiou with a return via “the crests” is a magnificent route… 4 hours, all the same!
The return trip to the cove Sormiou is a little step above. Because if the outward journey is a beautiful, steep descent during which your gaze never leaves the blue horizon, the return requires you to work on your breathing...!
Even stronger !
In just 10 hours of walking, we reach Cassis starting from Marseille along the eastern creeks. The view and cliffs of Devenson are well worth the effort! All you need is a weekend and a good pair of shoes.
Allow a slightly longer stay to cover the 60 kilometers of the GR98 which joins the coves of La Madrague to the Col du Pilon. It's an initiatory journey... sport, beauty and magic are there.
